Why do I let things bother me?

So I know it's been a while since I've posted here....nowadays I post my blogs on mysace...

Anyways...
Sometimes I don't understand myself. Like now, when I let things bother me that I feel shouldn't bother me, especially when I was in a good mood and I let things spoil my fun. I don't like it. But I guess it bothers me for a reason right? I don't know...like it's not anyone in particular that bothers me, maybe some things that are said, but mostly just that I'm the way I am, that being less aggressive person. I was having a good time at dinner tonight with Lish, Linds and Heather at K-Bob, granted I had a headache, but K-Bob cures...it's miraculous food so it wasn't that. But I don't know...we were all talking and I wanted to share my two cents cuz everyone was and I am always the person that is being cut off and interrupted. Like most of the time it doens't bother me, bcuz it's usually Lish who does it and I know that if she doens't get out what she has to say then she'll forget, which is fine. Like I said it doens't really bother me. But when it's something that I need to say bcuz I feel that it's vital to the conversation and I get cut off, it bothers me. If it's something not important...like a smart ass comment I might want to say, no it doens't bother me. But when I have to fight my way to say something that I want to say it just gets to me and then I lost my thought and when I say it, it doens't have as much impact as it should because I have to be like "can I say what I have to say first before you say something?" Bcuz by then the topic will have switched gears and what I wanted to say has no mroe meaning. And I know that a good bit of it is my fault for not being more aggressive when I'm in everyday conversations, but as you guys well know, I'm the listener...and when asked my opinion of course I'll give it and most times I'll say whatever I need to say anyways, well that is if it's me and one other person.

I don't know...I started thinking about it Saturday before the game when Linds, Lish and I were in the car just talking and we started talking about people getting words in "edgewise" and it came up again when I was out to dinner with Linds' parents, Linds and Lish. I don't really remember the conversations, at all really, but I know that they were there and it sparked thought, clearly. And I've just been thinking about how my non-aggressive self is when I'm having conversations with a group of people and I don't normally talk all that much because I'm a listener, it's what I do. A lot of the time I don't really have much to say one because usually if I did want to say something it was already said, or I just don't want to give input or it's not needed. But when I do, esp lately when I've hung out with the girls, because there have been some pretty big things that have gone on in their lives and it seems like almost every time I wanted to say something I was either ignored and talked over, was interrupted and had to make my presence known, or any other scenario that left me feeling somewhat upset and kind of neglected.

Tonight were 2 instances it happened and the second time I was just kinda like fuck it. And I guess that was not the best way to handle it. I should've said something, but I didn't because I didn't want to make a big deal out of it becase I don't want this to be a big deal. I don't feel that it is, it's just something I need to work on myself. I'm not blaming anybody and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone because it's no one's fault. I just need to become more agressive I guess. I just don't want to feel ignored by my friends and like what I have to say isn't important.

Like I said, it's no one's fault...I just need to work on my personality I guess so I dont' have to feel that way. And I know that my friends value my opinion so don't think that I'm saying they don't. And this is not a "kat needs sympathy post" or a "kat is being depressed" or any carious forms of that. This is a Kat needs to get her feelings out post and this is the best way how right now.

Ya know....that last post when I told myself that I wasn't going to let anything get me depressed and whatnot anymore? Yeah, it's working. Because where I would normally get depressed and in this huge melancholy hole that I myself couldn't drag me out of in certain situations, I havne't. There were two pretty major things that I would have bet money on myself to get depressed about, but didn't. I would have owed myself a shitton of money if I had actually bet against myself....lol.

For example...stupid shit with financial aid for the THRID semester in a row. Yes, happened again. I got upset about it, had my cry, and then it was over and done with. Granted I am still in the situation, I am not burying myself in my pillow and sulking in my pathetic-ness. Why couldn't I figure this shit out before?!! Seriously!?

Another example....today on my way to class I find that my brakes were not working as well as need be, so when I was stopping my baby, Bethany, didn't stop when I told her too and simultaneously the Athens Transit bus had just started going and we basically tapped each other. The hood of my Bethany got scratched with a slight bend in it. But other than that nothing happened. It was the bike rack in the front of the bus that hit me, so really nothing happened. Though because they work for the good ole government he had to report it. Which I completely understand, however, it was just 45 minutes of my life that I wish I could get back, but can't. Needless to say I missed class, which was the least of my worries. But I sat there in my car at the end of the complex and sat there with the cop as he got my license and registration and whatnot and waited for the verdict. Well goody for me I got a lovely ticket for "failure to yeild." Yay. That $90 I don't have, but have to get to pay the government. But back on topic, I cried, and had my hour of distress and freaking out. Then I went to lunch with Lish cried again and then that was it. I was done with it. I am done with it. There's no need to dwell. Shit happened. Shit will happen. It'll be ok. I dont' need to get depressed. I can be upset in the moment and a little after, but I dont' need to STAY that way. Silly me for not figuring this out earlier.

But at least I've got this now as opposed to next year. So, it's all good in the hood. Granted things aren't always ideal, I'm dealin'. And that works for me. Forgive the cliche, but I hit rock bottom, and basically bounced back from that. Hopefully to not do that again, in reguards to depression. So yay! Go me!! :)

And I must say, that I love you all. Thank you!!!

Thank God that I feel better tonight than I did last night. I was very much so afraid that I would feel that way for much longer. I don't really know what happened to make me turn a 180, but I'm glad that it happened. Thank God.

Ps....I don't know what it was, but apparently I became the Queen of Gracefullness tonight. I tripped, quite literally, about 7 times. Most of the time with shit in my hands. Luckily I never actually fell and busted my ass or what was in my hands, but good God!! It was ri-damn-diculous!!!!

Soooooo yeah, Imma watch me some BMW, take a MUCH needed shower and then get in bed. :)

So, I had an interview at the Ramsey center yesterday and all went well. It was very short and informal. Thought I had the job because she based her decision on availability and since I'm only taking 12 hours this fall I figured I'd be a shoe-in. Well I was wrong. most of my classes are on TR. But apparently that's what days they need people. So I didn't get the job. Bitches. But whatever....I'm not bitter.

What else has been going on? Eh...not too much. Just been helping Lish move into her new apartment which is super cute. Though we are stupid and where we assumed that since she wasn't turning on her power until Friday and we moved most of it in on Thursday, we assumed that there would be no power. So we sweated our asses off bcuz there was obviously no AC or no fans. And no lights to help us see when it got dark. So on the last stop we lighted many candles that took us around 15 minutes to do bcuz I had to light the way with my phone...lol. Well turns out that the next day when we knew there would be power it still wasn't on. So Lish went to check the breaker and guess what? All the circuits were OFF!!! So we could've had power and not sweated as much if we had just known that. We're smart kids. But it's ok....bcuz we probably sweated off like 8 gallons of water....no joke...we were disgusting...lol. And where it really sucks that my best friend is moving out, it's been kinda fun helping her move in. And it'll be even mroe fun to help her arrange stuff. And it's also been fun to know that the psycho bitch can't use the stuff that's been taken out of the apt such as the lamp she studies by, or the tv...lol. Call me bitchy, I dont' care, but the bitch had it coming. So she can get over it. So thats' been fun, though it really does suck. But it'll be ok. As long as there is happiness and no more stressing out over the baish, that's all I care about. :)

But yeah, sooo Andrew's wine and cheese party was last night. Holy cow...good times!!! That was the first time ever I'd been drunk off of just wine. I bought a bottle of arbor Mist peach for myself bcuz it was less than $3 and I drank that shit real fast. It was good and tasted not like wine...lol. So I got happy REAL fast....lol. And then I ended up drinking 3 more glasses of wine. I was very smiley and it was fantastic. Just what I needed. And I <3 my gay boys....Andrew, Jon and Ricky...I love you!!! I definitely bonded with them and it was fabulous. Andrew and I definitley had some bonding going on. We're gonna have to do that again. Gotta love learning things about people while drunk. :) We made a trip out to the baseball field....my first time that i'd been. That part of the night is kinda fuzzy...lol. But it's all good, I remember it all, just fuzzy. Though we got muddy and had to wash our feet when we got back. We talked for a good long while then at some point went to bed. Becki and I got to share the air mattress. That was pretty hot...lol. ;) Got up this morning and went to Zim's....omg...love those bagels!!! A-mazing!!! Good times were had. That's gonna need to be done more often. :)

So I was going to make a post about emotional vunerability and how much it sucks and how much it sucks to be so vunerable especially as it increases on a daily basis, but then I decided against it.

Instead I'll just say that for the past few weeks, no matter how tired I am and if it's ass in the morning, I can't fall asleep. I feel like we've just gotten back from China again and that I'm still going through jetlag. Obviously that's not the case. I blame anxiety attacks, stress, worrying, the psycho bitch and whatever other factors making me not be able to fall asleep. And it's not even that I just have trouble falling asleep. When I do finally get to bed at 4 or 5 in the morning, I'll wake up 3 hours later and be awake, though somehow I force myself back to sleep and then I'll have an odd dream and wake up sweating, practically and then be awake for the day when its' 10:30. Not that that's not a good time to be awake, bcuz I don't need to sleep all day. But when only getting 5 hours of sleep, in the summer, when I am able to sleep? That's no good and I dont' like it. I may have to try taking some medicine or something because I can't keep doing this. I feel drained during the day, and the emotional vunerability doens't help the fact. I feel like my eyes have the most gi-mormous bags underneath them and that my face looks horrible probably bcuz I do end up crying a few times a day on top of the tiredness.

I try to take naps though I can usually only sleep for half an hour, mostly bcuz I need to be woken up, someone calls or texts me, or I just wake up. And again, I may have a weird dream. The one I had last night? Freaked me out a little bit. I don't really remember a lot of the details, but basically my life was twisted with the book I just finished reading and it was just odd. Mixture of reality and not....yes. Why? I'm not quite sure.

I've been reading like crazy this summer. I've not read this much since elementary school when Goosbumps and the Babysitter's Club were the things to read. I think that I just need something to occupy my time though I dont' even think that's the reason. I need something to escape to. And books are what help me right now. My medium through which I escape from reality. Sigh....maybe I should write my own book. I wanted to do that in middle school. I wrote a short story about my middle school band career when I was in 8th grade. I still have it. My english teacher said that I should have it published as a childdren's book. Ha....that makes me laugh. I was 14 years old and not a good writer...lol. However, it just makes me laugh that I even wrote something.....and at that it was about BAND!!! God, I'm a fucking band nerd.

Ok, so I just went from insomnia to band nerd. I'm fucking crazy and insane. I'm aware of this fact. Thanks for pointing this out. (Yes, that means you Lish....lol).

Right, so yeah. I think I'm done now. It's about 3am and I was "going to bed" and hour ago. Let's see if I fall asleep. Annnnnnnnnnndddddd GO!!!!

Ok, so sorry about all that last night. I was forced to face reality that I knew I had to face at some point and because it took others to tell me that I needed to realize and that more than one of you were concerned with my well-being really got to me. And I'm ok now. And I was way too drammatic. Megan Jones pointed that out to me today. Thanks boo. :)

And YAY for our amazing breakfast cooking skills...we're just THAT good!!! Be jealous.

And tonight I got to talk to one of my high school friends that I miss terribly and everytime we talk it feels like we've never been seperated. She said something to me that made me cry and I apparently did the same to her. I mean, I guess you never really know how much someone means to you until you've been apart. I mean, obviously you can realize it, but you get what I'm saying. And I don't think that I ever considered her one of my best friends at the time because its' high school and the band kids pretty much stuck with the band kids and those were where my "best" friends were. Don't get me wrong, I had other friends, I was by no means a shallow person...never have been never will be, but I just didn't get to hang out with her as much because of it. But anyways, now that I look back on it I feel that she was probably more of a best friend to me than the ones I considered to be my best friends. Man, conversations can really open your mind to so much. Damn. Kinda catches you off guard, but in a good way.

I'm truly blessed to have each of you in my life....know that. ALL of you. You've affected my life in so many ways and I want you to know that. You are all very special to me and I love you!!! Thank you!!!!

To start off Linds came and hung out with Lish and me yesterday. Woke up and went to an early lunch so that Heather could come with us. After many "I don't know where we wanna eat"s we finally decided on Transmet. Linds came here and we met Heather downtown, well like half an hour after she was supposed to be there...lol. But it's all good. At least she got there!!! So we ate...yummmm....then Heather had to leave for her internship. After that we wasted time downtown for a while where I got a compliment on my new Shox from a random black guy. Then Lish proceeds to say that imma get it with one and Linds says "you're gonna have a swirl baby!!" Thanks guys...lol. Then went to Smoothie King for Linds to get a smoothie. Then it was back to the apt. Not 20 minutes after we got back were Lish and Linds asleep on the couch watchin tv. Now I tried to nap, however it didn't work so well. So I watched tv for 2 hours while they napped. Finally they woke up and that's when we went to go get ice cream at Coldstone. Mine was good, but no more sweet on empty stomach. THen Linds left, sadness, but it's ok....cuz it was time to get ready for Happy Hour!!!

So, every Wednesday night = downtown with the girls....usually consisting of me, Lish, Katie and Becki. we acquired Liza last night and almost had Jack too. Very sad that he couldn't make it, but it's ok bcuz he will next week!!! I miss that kid!!!

But anyways....I was the DD last night bcuz you gotta have your turn and since I got shitty with Jerusha on Sunday night I was OK with DDing...lol. Plus after eating ice cream on a somewhat empty stomach just made me feel gross and sick. So even if I wanted to drink I wouldn't have.

So we started at the Winery as per usual, stayed a while then ended up at Geneco. I'd never been there before, but it was close and empty so we went in. And when I didn't order a drink the second time Lish gave me the look of "why-the-fuck-not!!" But I really was feeling like crap and could have puked at any point. So I wasn't going to partake. Plus at some point I just got in one of my depressed moods, not because of anything in particular, probably just because I felt sick, and I had to fight back tears at a few points. I hate when I get like that bcuz I can't control it. But anyways, I was at the end of the bar and couldn't really hear conversation that was going on at the other end except for when Liza was talking to me, so I watched a little baseball that was on tv. I mean, boys in basball uniforms!!! Makes me very happy, I'm not gonna lie. ;) At some point the bartender places a glass of champagne in my face and I immediately look at Lish and she's looking back at me smiling like, "yeah, that's right I did it and I win. Now drink." That's what her face said...lol. And I give her the evil glare because I really didn't want it, but was appreciative of the fact that she did it. So I sipped it and when I have a drink n front of me, I don't sip..lol. But I definitely did last night and it took me a good 20 min to drink the first 3rd of the glass when Lish came over there to see how I was doing and where I tried to give her her drink back bcuz I didn't know how much more I could drink. I was feeling really gross. But she's a baish and wouldn't take it back. Boo. Well a few minutes later bartender buddy comes and fills it back to the top and I'm like shit!! But after another 45 min I finally finish it and I'm done at that point. It made my stomach feel even more gross, but may have relaxed me some. So give some take some. Thanks Lish.

So after being there for a while we go to Classic City where we realize just how drunk Becki and Katie are. I won't go into too many details on that bcuz they might beat me, but it was damn funny. "You took my cherry you whore!!!" being one of the highlights. Thats' when I got a text from Jack saying that he wasn't going to be able to come. I was saddened greatly by this, but its' ok...next time!!! :) We left once the 5 glasses of champage were gone...lol.

Then it was off to JRs where we stayed just for a few minutes while Katie ate peanuts...and they had another drink in the pink cup...lol. Once that was done off to Buddha Bar it was. Yay for the couches in the back. They make me happy. I still wasn't feeling so hot, but was feeling a tad better, so the couches made me happy. And it was also good for the drunks Becki and Katie. :) Though Lish was pretty good herself as well. ;) After being there for a while we left and went back to the Winery, though we didn't stay, then started going back to Geneco, but just decided to get everyone home. So we left around 1ish and came back.

What a night....I must say being the DD is good to do, not just bcuz there's no hangover, but there way more entertainment and being garanteed to remember it all. HA....good times. Until next Wednesday!!! :)

China!!!!!

So, I'm not going to write a detailed version of my 2 weeks in China bcuz, well you wouldn't read it all and I'd die from hand cramps from typing all of it. However if you'd like to see pics checkout my facebook!! That should tell you lots!!!

But basically we hit 6 major cities, Beijing, Kunming, Chengdu, Xiamen, Nanjing and Shanghai. We did 5 performances in all but Beijing and we had a blast doing it! The Chinese people absolutely loved us and now know how to call the dawgs!!! Very exciting!!! :) The best show was, in my opinion, Chengdu because afterwards we all felt like rock stars and everything just clicked and we rocked it out. All the Chinese people came up to us afterwards wanting autographs and pictures with us. One guy even started playing a baritone! It was hilarious and it was just amazing!!! That was definitely the best experience of my life other than college itself. I wish we could do it again!!!

I definitely became more aware of the Chinese culture...such as....no right of way laws, so you basically played human frogger trying to cross the street and there is LOTS of honking at ALL hours of the day/night and the traffic is just...wow. Squatty potties.....definitely had to get used to that, however there were western toilets in the hotels, but at random places....not so much. But it's all good bcuz I mastered them!!! :) The small children were my favorite. I want them all. No really, I want them all...lol. They would come up to you and say "hello" to demonstrate their english skills. One time Lish and I passed a school that had just gotten out and there was a swarm of kids and one little boy run up to me and said "hello, how are you?" and ran off before I could answer. SO CUTE!!!! And the small children, toddlers, have slits in their pants that go from the top of the zipper to the top of their butt crack. Lish and I's assumption is that it is an aid in potty training that they learn to squat and go before learning how to pull down and up pants. TO make it easier for the kid. Makes sense, however it was odd to see balls hanging out...lol. But whatever, it's how they roll. Though they will do their business on the sidewalk, or pretty much wherever they are. Adults too. So its' not the cleanest of places, but you kinda get used to it, especially being there for 2 weeks.

As far as food, it was definitely interesting. I can with an open-mind to try everything. But there are just certain things I draw the line on, such as the grubs they served us. Kinda like the ones in Lion King, except fried. I did not try that. I don't do insects, worms, whatever. Gross. However, I did eat a lotus flower....very sweet and really good. Also ate some grass, leek, various other green things that I dont' reall know what they were. I tried some sort of mushroom, Kate says it's a jelly mushroom. I hate mushrooms, but I tried it bcuz I wanted to and it was gross, so I didn't wat anymore...lol. Ate the hottest pepper in China, well it was cooked in with fish, but you couldn't taste the fish bcuz the pepper was so strong. My tongue was numb for about 20 minutes after that, however it was good. Ate LOTS of rice....and mastered the technique of eating it with chopsticks. :) I felt proud...lol. But yeah, as far as odd things, that was about it. Everything else was about normal. The dumplings were my favorite. I could eat those all the time. MMmmmm, but I dont' want Chinese for at LEAST another month. They did have some American food...McDonald's, KFC, and Pizza Hut. Well and Starbucks...lol. We ate McD's after every practice. Tastes the same. However I'd never had a bigmac before this trip. I'm not a huge fan. I'll stick with the regular. However I don't want McDs for a long time either...lol. But yeah, that's about it!!

But yeah, as far as the major touristy things we did....we went to a silk factory, pearl factory, toured a Hutong, saw an acrbatic show, went to Tian'anmen Square, saw the gardens that overlook the Forbidden City, shopped a lot at various bird markets (much like our flea markets), went to the Panda Base (my favorite!), went to the beautiful island off of the Xiamen port (though it rained the entire time), saw the beautiful architecture that is the city of Shanghai, and basically just shopped and whatnot. So yeah, it was good times!!!
